betrayal

We bit the bullet on our specialness,
we were ahead of the game
but got entangled in bureaucratic red tape, loopholes and
fell between the cracks
lost, invisible
perched on a shelf looking out the window
the parade passing us by
the specialness is still
in the mind's eye the

mind cogs moving
betraying the cobwebs
collecting on the outside.
